4 steps : create, select, setup and cut

Step 1 : Create

Adobe Illustrator™ most recent versions offer a large panel of dreamfull features to signmakers, screenprinters and professionnals of the visual communication.

NCS MagiSign extends those features by offering to control sign cutting plotters directly from Adobe Illustrator.

Sure, without NCS MagiSign, you could reproduce your designs using a sign cutting plotter through a bridge software or by importing .ai or .eps files in a dedicated sign software.

Any of those solution has a big drawback against NCS MagiSign : it supposes copy/paste or at least export/import processes and thus results in loss of time, multiplications of number of files and frequent loss of informations as of quality. More it could result with compatibility problems at middle or long terms, considering those applications require you to save your jobs in a file format far less common that Adobe Illustrator one.

Step 2 : Select

NCS MagiSign appears in Adobe Illustrator as a common palette of this software.

You may show it or hide it from the window menu, tab it within any other palette group (for example, with the Adobe Navigator or the Adobe Layer palette). You may reduce its size or expand it by doubble-clic on its title bar, etc

One click on the small arrows on the left of subtitles let you discover informations about the selection and the workable area of your plotter. Select any path or group of path of your choice, edit the selected items, NCS MagiSign adaptes its values on the fly.

 

Need to work with a multiple color project ? Select one item of a specific color and apply "Edit->Select->Same Fill Color".

All the items using the same color will be selected and thus considered as the current project by NCS MagiSign.

Deselect one path : it will be placed outside the project. Powerful, isn't it ?

Step 3 : Setup

NCS MagiSign divides plotting jobs in 6 process manager, or group of options.

Each one purposes default values and is customizable.

The two first managers are enabled at any time during the creation process.The others appears when you click on the "Send" button.

To keep display space, any manager can be reduced to a single or expand to its common size by one click on the green arrow on the left of its title :

Step 4 : Cut

When the values of your choice are defined in each manager, you just have to confirm your setup.

Your cutting plotter moves and produces your signs.

As far as the job is done, you will be back in Adobe Illustrator, ready to prepare an other job or proceed with another color.
